Years 1 and 2

Our Key Stage One is split into three classes. The Year 2/3 class is taught by one of our Deputy Headteachers and leader of EYFS and Key stage 1, Mrs Furber and our SENDCO, Mrs Sharpe (Sycamore). Our other Year 2 class is taught by Miss Kempton (Yew)) and our Year 1 class is taught by Miss Lewis (Beech).

How to help at home

Weekly spelling homework is issued at the start of each half term and will consist of high frequency words that the children are expected to be able to spell in their year group. The children will be tested on their spellings every Friday morning. A maths activity from MY Maths (an online programme) will be set fortnightly to link to on-going maths work in class.

In addition to the weekly homework, we ask that you hear your children read (daily if possible) This reading will require the children to choose a book, that is appropriate to their reading age and ability, either from their Accelerated reader level or colour book band. Each week your child will also have a Guided Reading session with their class teacher and a follow up task will be set in their Reading Response Journal for you to do at home with them.
